SAN FRANCISCO, CA (April 2, 2007) – SKYY90 ®, a new superior tasting vodka by design, announced today a full year of programming to support and highlight the work of designers and architects across the United States. The programming includes the debut of the SKYY90 Design Collective which will develop and present exhibitions and installations by emerging design talent and the Diamond Design Series, a series of panel discussions with partners that include local chapters of the American Institute of Architects. The SKYY90 Design Collective premiere project, Crosswired, will be presented in partnership with the Architecture and Design Museum Los Angeles, known as the A+D Museum. The interactive and multi-sensory project blends a large-scale tensile fabric installation designed by Workshop LEVITAS with live digital visual and experimental electronic music performances. Visitors to Crosswired will be able to move and adjust large light-weight structures suspended throughout A+D’s public courtyard. During performances, musical and digital visual artists will perform live projecting collaborations onto the installation structures. Each structure will be wired with several optical sensors that instantaneously relay data to the visual and musical components affecting and co-creating the audio and visual experience.
Crosswired, will premiere in Los Angeles on Friday, April 20th. The installation will be on display through Sunday, May 13th with live performances every Friday night at 8:00 PM. Curated by Constant Flux (Doug Rimerman), Sarah Chambliss, and Surya Buchwald, the musical and video performances include a combination of emerging and well known artists such as Rd, Ken Gibson, Edit, Deru Suryummy, Jarrett Smith and Makanix. Constant Flux is known throughout the Los Angeles electronic music scene as a local pioneer of experimental/ breakbeat composition and audio/visual performance alongside longtime visual artist collaborators. For more than a decade Constant Flux has specifically focused on the translation of architectural forms into audio compositions and reinterpreting them into motion imagery. The interactive installation was designed by Workshop LEVITAS, an AIA-LA Honors Award-winning international design collaborative comprised of architects, engineers, interactive designers and artists. After closing in Los Angeles, the SKYY90 Design Collective and A+D Museum will travel Crosswired to Miami in December to coincide with Design Miami/ and Art Basel Miami Beach.
“Without patrons like the SKYY90 Design Collective, projects like this would not be possible,” said Tibbie Dunbar, Museum Director for the A+D Museum. “Crosswired will be a completely unique experience merging elements of design, architecture, technology, visual performance and audio performance.”
SKYY90 has also partnered with the San Francisco and New York Chapters of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the A+D Museum, to present the Diamond Design Series. The series consists of panel discussions during the opening of key architectural exhibitions in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Highlights from the series include a Los Angeles exhibition and retrospective of the work of world renowned architect Richard Meier with the A+D Museum in Los Angeles, Out from Under: Australian Architecture Now, highlighting young Australian architecture talent at the AIA San Francisco’s Center for Architecture + Design and an exhibition exploring the architectural connection between Berlin and New York at the AIA New York’s Center for Architecture. There will be a total of nine of SKYY90’s Diamond Design Series events throughout the year.

Their projects strive to manifest precisely the essence of the physical world by embodying light, chaos and ephemera. The group believes that the process of production is equally integral to the overall design, an approach that allows for the organic and serendipitous development of their projects.
