HOUSE OF CAMPARI PRESENTS: 25 BOLD MOVES – AN EXHIBITION FEATURING A CURATED SELECTION OF 25 IMPORTANT VISUAL ARTISTS NEW TO THE LOS ANGELES GALLERY SCENE

Visual Arts Exhibition Is Complemented by Fiction Readings, Musical Performances, Cultural Partners and Community Events

Los Angeles, CA (July 27, 2006) – Continuing Campari’s longstanding tradition of arts patronage and commitment to bold expression, House of Campari returns from July 14th-August 13th to showcase a selection of distinctive new visual artists. House of Campari is a summer-long cultural destination exhibiting the work of the most talked-about emerging visual artists while also hosting cultural events which include live readings by emerging fiction writers and passionate musical performances by cutting-edge bands. As culture progresses, the buzz in the art world is about who is new and innovative. Collectors and enthusiasts always want to know which artists are being exhibited in museums and which are being collected. House of Campari’s title exhibition “25 Bold Moves” serves as a snapshot of 25 of the best of the new generation of artists as selected by 25 of the best gallery owners and curators in Los Angeles.

“25 Bold Moves” is a group exhibition featuring emerging visual artists who have had their first solo exhibition with a Los Angeles based gallery or non-profit art space in the past season or will have an exhibition in the upcoming season. The artists included in “25 Bold Moves” represent the best of the new generation and suggest new directions in abstraction, such as the hypnotic painting of Allison Miller and Carter Mull’s kaleidoscopic photographs. “25 Bold Moves” also showcases the importance of cultural sampling, from Nathan Mabry’s homage to hip-hop street culture that collides with Pre-Columbian sculptures, to personal reverie, evident in Zackary Drucker’s examination of aging drag queens or Allison Cortson’s portraits of best friends made from the dust and dirt swept from their floors.

“25 Bold Moves” includes work in painting, photography, sculpture, drawing and collage, featuring work by: Jimmy Baker, John White Cerasulo, Allison Cortson, Aaron Curry, Ian Davis, Song Dong & Yin Xiuzhen, Jim Drain, Zackary Drucker, Frohawk Two Feathers, Kati Heck, Gustavo Herrara, Havard Homstvedt, Matt Johnson, Ulrich Lamsfuss, Karen Liebowitz, Nathan Mabry, Allison Miller, Carter Mull, Ruben Ochoa, Franco Mondini-Ruiz, Leslie Shows, Mark Verabioff, Mario Ybarra Jr., Spencer Young and Brenna Youngblood.

Campari presented a similar project in New York City in May that featured 25 of the most talked-about emerging artists in the New York art scene. Both projects are part of Campari’s ongoing contemporary art programming.

Each of the artists in the exhibition is represented by a different leading Los Angeles gallery with a commitment to new artistic talent, including; Roberts + Tilton, ACME., REDCAT, Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects, Sandroni.Rey, The Happy Lion, David Kordansky Gallery, Marc Foxx, LAXART, Anna Helwing Gallery, Acuna-Hansen Gallery, Peres Projects, Lizabeth Oliveria Gallery, Taylor De Cordoba, Marc Selwyn Fine Art, Black Dragon Society, Kantor / Feuer Gallery, Blum & Poe, Daniel Hug, Cherry and Martin, Jack Hanley Gallery, 2102 Projects, LightBox, Sister and Rosamund Felsen Gallery.
“25 Bold Moves” is curated by Simon Watson and Craig Hensala of Scenic. Watson and Hensala have been curating and producing projects by acclaimed emerging artists for more than 30 years.

Hours for free, public viewing of “25 Bold Moves” are Fridays and Saturdays 12 p.m. – 8 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. – 6 p.m at House of Campari, 1224 Abbot Kinney Boulevard, Venice Beach, California, 90291.
